Dog kennels for Rivian vehicles
Plan a dog kennel for the Rivian R1S with attention to the split tailgate, rear seats and access to the installed kennel.
Think through the reach across the tailgate
The R1S is our current Rivian guide. Its upper liftgate and lower tailgate make the loading routine a useful place to start: getting a kennel into the back and reaching its latch afterward are two different tasks. We would try both before deciding a layout works for daily dog trips.
Keep the shell fully inside the intended travel position, then check your reach across the lowered panel and the dog’s route into the kennel. Decide which rear seats remain available and where luggage goes. The R1S guide develops those questions; it should not be read as coverage for every Rivian or as approval to use enclosed storage compartments for a dog.
Let’s find the right spot for your dog. Choose your model below, then check the year, body style and seating layout you use. Each guide helps you compare options before measuring your own vehicle.
Before choosing a kennel
Size for your dog first, then compare the full exterior shell with your loading route and installed space. Follow our measuring checklist and guide to crash-test evidence. Physical fit alone does not establish crash protection.
Once you have a workable layout, compare kennel product reviews and confirm the exact size and installation instructions before buying.
