A puppy still needs a secure, appropriate attachment and gradual practice. Check the selected length and do not use a check cord as an unattended tether.
Fit and handling
Choose a selected length and material suited to supervised distance practice in an appropriate open area. Confirm a suitable harness attachment and keep spare line managed clear of people and obstacles. A training line is not an unattended tie-out.
Check length, width, clip, intended dog limits and included handles. Coupler-only purchases need a compatible main lead; complete dual-leash systems may already include it. Check the handling instructions for retractable, slip, hands-free and long leads.
