Best dog kennels for the Audi Q5

On the newer Q5, rear-bench slide and tilt must be set for passengers before you record cargo measurements.

This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.

Start with your Audi Q5’s layout

The third-generation Q5’s rear bench can slide and tilt. That makes a cargo photograph incomplete evidence unless you know where the seat was set. Put the rear occupants in their normal positions first, then record the kennel envelope behind them rather than using the maximum possible depth.

This guide starts with the Q5 SUV. A Sportback has a different rear body and needs its own closed-hatch assessment. Keep both body and generation on the measurement sheet; a seller cannot reliably interpret “Q5” when those distinctions are missing.

For a kennel that remains installed during the week, decide whether the bench must still move for different passengers. If it does, test the most space-consuming required position. Marking a seat position can help repeat the trial, but it is not a substitute for leaving the passengers the room they actually need.

Compare RuffLand and G1 after those decisions, using the complete shells and installation space. A rear-facing entrance is the clearest starting point when the bench stays occupied. If an enclosure only fits with the bench slid forward beyond ordinary use, describe it as a different seating arrangement and decide whether that compromise is acceptable before ordering.

The checks that matter here

Kennels we would compare for the Audi Q5

Let normal passenger legroom determine kennel depth, then compare a single rear entrance.

RuffLand single-door kennel

A single-door RuffLand is a candidate if it works behind the bench in its normal occupied position.

When we would pass: An owner photo with the bench pushed forward does not prove your daily layout.

Gunner G1

Compare G1 at the most rearward seat position your passengers actually need.

When we would pass: Do not accept a shell that prevents the required bench adjustment.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.

Before you order

Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.

Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
