Research-based shortlist, not a verified-fit list. Confirm your model year, body style, trim and seat layout before buying.
This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your Kia K4’s layout
The K4 sedan should be evaluated as its own car, not as a renamed Forte. A new nameplate does not preserve the predecessor's door opening, seat contour or restraint geometry. Confirm sedan versus hatchback before beginning: a sedan's separate trunk is not an occupied kennel space, even when its luggage capacity sounds generous.
For a small dog in the sedan, begin with a Sleepypod Air or Mobile Pet Bed and the manufacturer's vehicle-use instructions. Compare how each shape sits on the selected rear seat. Space for a passenger's knees is not the same as a stable carrier footprint, and a carrier must not cover a belt buckle needed by another occupant.
If you own the K4 hatchback, start a separate measurement of the cargo floor and hatch opening rather than importing the sedan recommendation. Record the available length with the rear seats in the positions you actually need. The roofline and closing hatch can restrict a kennel well before its floor dimensions become the problem.
Our buying decision would favor the arrangement that leaves access to the carrier and preserves ordinary driver and passenger seating. For a dog too large for a suitable seat carrier, explore an appropriate vehicle restraint instead of sizing down. Take a cardboard outline to the car first, then confirm the full product, belt routing and dog comfort before a road trip.
The checks that matter here
- K4 sedan versus hatchback
- Carrier support and neighboring seat-belt buckle
- Rear-door loading clearance with front seats in use
Kennels we would compare for the Kia K4
For the K4 sedan, compare small-dog carriers first. Treat the hatchback as a different cargo layout requiring its own measurements, not an automatic fit extension.
Sleepypod Air

For the K4 sedan, trial Air on the rear seat using the K4’s own belt and cushion geometry instead of a predecessor’s installation.
When we would pass: The sedan needs a seat-carrier installation; the K4 hatchback requires a separate cargo assessment.

Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed

Compare the round Mobile Pet Bed independently on the chosen sedan seat; a K4 hatchback cargo plan is a separate question.
When we would pass: Do not transfer a Forte carrier placement without checking the K4’s own seat contour and belt route.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
