Start with your Lexus GX’s layout
The GX badge covers different generations and seating plans. In the GX 550 range, the two-row Overtrail configuration and family-oriented three-row versions should start with different cargo drawings. Decide which vehicle you own and which seats stay occupied before transferring advice from an online GX installation.
Loading height deserves a separate rehearsal. Lexus added a suspension lift to 2025 Overtrail grades, making that detail especially relevant when considering a ramp or lifting an older dog. An opening can accept a kennel while the approach from the ground remains awkward for the animal or handler.
Place a mock-up in the intended cargo position and test how the dog would approach its door. If a ramp is part of the plan, include its contact point and where it travels when stored. Keep recovery equipment out of that entrance; outdoor capability does not make loosely packed tools an acceptable companion to the kennel.
For a dedicated two-row arrangement, compare one dog-sized shell against a possible pair only after reserving equipment space. For a three-row GX, check behind the last occupied row instead. We would select by those actual boarding and passenger needs rather than treating the Overtrail’s appearance as a reason to choose a larger enclosure.
