This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.

Start with your Ford Bronco’s layout

The first Bronco question is two doors or four. Those are different packaging problems, even when the trim badge is identical. Start behind the rear seats with every passenger position you intend to use. A kennel that works in a four-door vehicle with a seat folded is not evidence that it will fit a two-door Bronco with both rear seats occupied.

The rear opening also needs a practical loading trial. Open the swing gate and rear glass as your owner’s manual describes, then check the narrowest clear opening and the space needed to reach the kennel latch. Include any cargo liner, security enclosure or trail equipment that normally stays in the vehicle. A photograph of an empty cargo area is not your traveling configuration.

Plan for ordinary road travel with the cabin enclosed and the dog protected from loose equipment. Removable body panels do not remove the need for an appropriate restraint and clear ventilation. Before ordering, test a full-size exterior mock-up, including handles and door swing. If the required kennel consumes a passenger position you cannot give up, change the travel arrangement rather than choosing a kennel too small for the dog.

The checks that matter here

Kennels we would compare for the Ford Bronco

Our first comparison would be a single-door RuffLand when the rear opening gives you a straightforward access route. Compare a dog-appropriate Gunner G1 as a separate candidate when its full shell and specified securing system can be accommodated. We would pay for a second kennel door only if it creates an access route you can actually use with the Bronco’s seats and luggage in place.

A straightforward rear-loading candidate when the Bronco swing gate and rear glass leave its door accessible; compare the two-door and four-door layouts separately.

When we would pass: Pass if the swing gate cannot open far enough in your normal parking spot to reach the kennel entrance.

Gunner G1

Consider the G1 only after a full exterior mock-up clears the Bronco opening with your trail equipment and required rear seats still in place.

When we would pass: A four-door Bronco trial does not establish room behind the retained seats of a two-door vehicle.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.

Before you order

Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.

Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
