Research-based shortlist, not a verified-fit list. Confirm your model year, body style, trim and seat layout before buying.
This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your BMW X3’s layout
The X3’s folding rear seats let you consider different combinations of passengers and long equipment. Confirm the seat split and folding functions in the manual for your own generation before planning around a particular section. For a kennel, begin behind the seatbacks that remain upright; a narrow pass-through for a long bag does not automatically create a wider platform or a practical entrance to the dog.
Confirm your model generation and US specification before copying numbers from a brochure. Overseas powertrain variants can have different cargo information. A shared X3 name or a similar exterior photograph is not enough to combine those measurements into one fit claim.
If you carry sports equipment beside the kennel, sketch its full path through any folded section. Keep it independently restrained and clear of the kennel door and ventilation. The useful layout preserves rear passengers while preventing a long item from turning the dog’s only exit into an obstacle course.
We would compare a single-door RuffLand and a G1 with that complete arrangement drawn. A second door becomes relevant only if a folded section leaves real working space for both the door and handler. Choose the kennel for the dog’s interior needs first, then decide whether the X3’s flexible seats can support the trip without sacrificing required occupants.
The checks that matter here
- Exact X3 generation and US specification
- Available seat sections and folding functions in your manual
- Long equipment separated from kennel access
Kennels we would compare for the BMW X3
Begin with a rear-entry installation and use partial-seat folding for a deliberate passenger-and-gear plan.
RuffLand single-door kennel

A rear-facing RuffLand can keep the dog’s entrance separate from long equipment carried through a folded seat section where your configuration permits it.
When we would pass: A narrow folded section does not establish space to open a second kennel door.

Gunner G1

Compare G1 with the actual US cargo layout and the normal passenger positions.
When we would pass: Reject imported fit dimensions that omit generation or powertrain.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
