This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.

Start with your Jeep Wrangler’s layout

Wrangler owners must distinguish two-door, four-door and 4xe configurations. A kennel result for one should not be treated as a result for the others. The rear gate and glass also make loading different from a conventional one-piece liftgate, so test both access and everyday door operation.

Rehearse the rear opening in a confined parking space. The swing gate needs room beside the vehicle, and the kennel entrance must remain reachable once the rear glass is open. Include the spare-tire clearance outside the vehicle in your loading routine instead of looking only at the cargo floor inside.

For a two-door Wrangler, losing rear-seat use can be a much larger everyday compromise than it appears in a cargo photograph. Decide whether that is acceptable before selecting a shell. On any configuration, keep the dog’s travel arrangement compatible with the roof and doors you actually use; an open-air trip still requires a deliberate restraint plan.

The checks that matter here

Kennels we would compare for the Jeep Wrangler

Investigate a RuffLand layout that keeps its usable door accessible through the rear opening. Compare a suitable Gunner G1 if the dog-sized model can be installed correctly; secure enclosure and cabin conditions matter more than an adventure look.

A rear-facing opening is worth testing with the Wrangler’s swing gate and glass open in your normal parking space.

When we would pass: Reject this layout if two-door, four-door or 4xe layout cannot accommodate the dog-appropriate shell and a usable entrance.

Gunner G1

Test G1 with both parts of the Wrangler rear opening usable and enough exterior space to operate the swing gate at ordinary stops.

When we would pass: The deciding trial includes remaining cargo space with required seats. A floor-only fit does not resolve that constraint.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.

Before you order

Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.

Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
