Research-based shortlist, not a verified-fit list. Confirm your model year, body style, trim and seat layout before buying.
This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your Toyota Tundra’s layout
Choose a kennel for the Tundra’s passenger cabin before considering how much equipment its bed can carry. The practical shortlist starts with an in-cab design such as RuffLand’s Backseat Rider, followed by a dog-sized GUNNER G1 if its complete shell and installation can be accommodated. Neither is a universal Tundra fit. Cab style, model year, front-seat positions and the passengers who travel with you determine whether either arrangement is workable.
Start by identifying CrewMax or Double Cab and measuring your actual rear-door opening. A kennel can occupy a theoretical rectangle behind the front seats yet fail to turn through that opening. Make a cardboard model that includes protruding handles and the door, then test the loading movement with the front seats in their normal driving positions. Do not count space that requires the driver or front passenger to sit awkwardly.
The next question is support and attachment. A rear bench, a raised seat base and a footwell are different surfaces; the kennel needs the installation specified by its manufacturer. Ask both manufacturers about the proposed location if the instructions do not clearly cover it. Do not improvise a platform or assume that a seat hinge, child-seat anchor or storage bracket is an approved kennel restraint point.
Finally, rehearse an ordinary stop. Can you reach the kennel latch from the curb side, clip on a leash before opening the door and load an older dog without a difficult jump? Keep tools and other gear restrained separately. A pickup bed’s large dimensions do not resolve weather exposure or attachment requirements, so this guide’s starting recommendation remains an installation checked against both manufacturers’ instructions inside the climate-controlled cabin.
The checks that matter here
- Confirm CrewMax or Double Cab and the exact model year.
- Test the rear-door loading turn with front seats set for normal driving.
- Verify full base support and an approved attachment method in the proposed cabin location.
- Rehearse curb-side kennel access and a manageable dog loading height.
Kennels we would compare for the Toyota Tundra
Choose a verified in-cab installation that works with the exact cab and your normal front-seat positions.
RuffLand Backseat Rider

Worth comparing for a rear-cabin layout because loading through the Tundra’s side door is the central planning constraint.
When we would pass: A Backseat Rider name does not establish a Tundra installation; check the chosen cab’s actual seat and belt arrangement.

GUNNER G1 — select size for your dog

Compare a dog-appropriate size if you can dedicate a properly supported and secured location in the Tundra cabin.
When we would pass: The CrewMax loading turn and a Double Cab doorway require separate trials.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
