Research-based shortlist, not a verified-fit list. Confirm your model year, body style, trim and seat layout before buying.
This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your Nissan Frontier’s layout
A Frontier kennel decision starts with the cab. Nissan describes forward-hinged rear doors on Crew Cab and rear-swinging access doors with flip-up rear seating on King Cab configurations. The large-looking open space created by the latter door arrangement should not be confused with the final usable rear-cabin footprint.
For a King Cab, rehearse the relationship between the front and rear doors as well as the kennel’s turn into position. For Crew Cab, test the actual rear opening with the front seats set normally. Neither exercise should rely on a driver moving to an unsuitable seat position after the kennel is loaded.
Inspect the seat and storage arrangement for your year before using a folded or raised cushion to create a location. The support surface and securing method need to match the kennel’s instructions. A convenient factory bracket or underseat compartment is not, by itself, evidence of an approved attachment.
Compare a compact dog-appropriate RuffLand and G1 only if the cabin trial succeeds. Keep an adjacent passenger’s feet, belt and exit usable. If the dog’s proper enclosure cannot be loaded and installed there, investigate a different travel arrangement instead of assuming the bed or a smaller kennel resolves the problem.
The checks that matter here
- King Cab or Crew Cab door arrangement
- Front/rear door relationship during loading
- Year-specific rear-seat support and storage
Kennels we would compare for the Nissan Frontier
Use the cab and door arrangement as the first filter for an in-cabin shortlist.
RuffLand single-door kennel

Investigate a compact RuffLand configuration with its door oriented toward an approach you can actually use.
When we would pass: A King Cab’s open doorway does not establish the kennel’s final supported footprint.

Gunner G1

Compare G1 only after the full shell clears the correct cab’s loading turn.
When we would pass: Pass if loading depends on sacrificing safe front-seat positions or an adjacent passenger’s exit.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
