This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your Dodge Durango’s layout
The Durango can carry up to three rows of passengers, with second-row Fold & Tumble access to the rear. If the third row is occupied, include that seat movement in the layout before assigning the remaining space to a kennel. An enclosure that fits while everyone is already seated can still make entry or exit impractical.
For trips with the third row folded, establish whether the second row stays occupied and in its normal position. Avoid a shell or restraint route that intrudes into the movement needed by those seats. A full-size mock-up should show the kennel’s upper corners as well as its base when you check the hatch.
One rear-facing entrance is a sensible starting configuration. A second door earns consideration only if there is a route to it that does not require tumbling a seat against the enclosure or unloading a passenger. Try that approach in the actual seating package instead of inferring it from an empty-cabin photograph.
Compare RuffLand and G1 with a normal road-trip load aboard. Keep the bags separately secured and check whether the dog can leave the kennel while the people remain seated. For a Durango alternating between team transport and dog trips, the effort of removing and storing the empty shell may decide the purchase more than cargo volume.
The checks that matter here
- Second-row tumble path for third-row access
- Seat movement with enclosure and straps installed
- Dog exit while passengers remain seated
Kennels we would compare for the Dodge Durango
Protect the passenger entry route before selecting a rear-facing kennel.
RuffLand single-door kennel

A single-door RuffLand can be compared when hatch loading remains clear of the seats’ tumble paths.
When we would pass: A cabin-facing door is not useful if opening it requires moving a seat into the kennel.

Gunner G1

Consider G1 in a fixed third-row-folded layout with ordinary passengers and luggage retained.
When we would pass: Account for removal and storage when the Durango returns to full passenger duty.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
