This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.
Start with your Hyundai Tucson’s layout
Tucson buyers should record gasoline, hybrid or plug-in hybrid before measuring. Floor packaging and trim equipment matter to kennel installation, so the useful question is how much uninterrupted space your own vehicle provides behind the seats you retain. Measure the hatch opening independently of interior height.
The Tucson trial should begin with the normal rear-seat recline. A seatback moved forward for loading can make a kennel look acceptable while taking away a passenger’s everyday position. Mark the base location and check the hatch clearance again after the seat is restored, with the protective mat still installed.
If your travel routine includes charging equipment or other supplies under the floor, decide how you will reach them with the kennel secured. The useful layout keeps routine supplies accessible without releasing an occupied enclosure. Compare the actual gasoline, hybrid or plug-in version you own rather than assuming the cargo-floor details carry across.
The checks that matter here
- Powertrain and model year
- Hatch opening versus interior roof height
- Level cargo support behind second row
Kennels we would compare for the Hyundai Tucson
A single-door RuffLand is a straightforward candidate for rear loading. Compare a dog-sized Gunner G1 if its exterior shell, ventilation clearance and securing method suit the available space.
RuffLand single-door kennel

A rear-facing door may suit the Tucson when the second row stays at its normal recline and the chosen powertrain’s floor provides the required support.
When we would pass: Reject this layout if powertrain and model year cannot accommodate the dog-appropriate shell and a usable entrance.

Gunner G1

Compare G1 with passenger recline restored and the exact powertrain’s cargo floor in use, including an accessible position for stop-by-stop supplies.
When we would pass: The deciding trial includes level cargo support behind second row. A floor-only fit does not resolve that constraint.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.
Before you order
Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.
Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
