This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.

Start with your Jeep Grand Cherokee’s layout

A two-row Grand Cherokee and a three-row Grand Cherokee L are different kennel layouts. The extra seating changes where a crate can live, and a 4xe should be measured as its own configuration. Decide whether rear passengers or the dog occupy the space behind the second row.

Write the full model designation on your measurement sheet: Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L or 4xe. With the L, choose whether the third row is part of the passenger plan. With a two-row vehicle, begin behind the occupied second row; an L owner’s folded-seat photograph does not answer that question for you.

Before choosing a double-door enclosure, map the second approach from a passenger doorway to the kennel. A console, child seat or suitcase can turn an apparent alternate entrance into a blocked panel. If only the hatch remains usable, a single rear entrance may be the simpler configuration to investigate.

The checks that matter here

Kennels we would compare for the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Compare RuffLand single- and double-door layouts when alternate access is useful; compare a suitable Gunner G1 for a documented tested configuration. Retain only candidates that work with the rows of seats you need.

A single rear door is a useful baseline when a two-row, L or 4xe layout leaves no dependable cabin approach.

When we would pass: Reject this layout if two-row versus grand cherokee l cannot accommodate the dog-appropriate shell and a usable entrance.

A G1 comparison should name two-row, L or 4xe and use the seats retained in that exact vehicle rather than a family-wide cargo claim.

When we would pass: The deciding trial includes third-row position where applicable. A floor-only fit does not resolve that constraint.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.

Before you order

Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.

Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
