Best dog kennels for the Tesla Model 3

The Model 3 is a sedan, so this guide starts with the passenger cabin.

This guide builds on our general guide to choosing the best kennel for your vehicle. Start there for the overall approach, or change vehicles with the selector below.

Start with your Tesla Model 3’s layout

The Model 3 is a sedan, so this guide starts with the passenger cabin. Neither the front trunk nor the separate rear trunk is a suitable occupied kennel location. Check rear-door access and the stable space available without shifting the driver out of a safe seating position.

A small-dog carrier should be assessed against the Model 3’s rear-seat cushion and the belt routing in the carrier instructions. Do not use the front trunk or rear luggage compartment as an occupied alternative. Neither a flat cargo photograph nor a climate-control feature changes the sedan’s separate luggage layout.

Try the loading motion with the front passenger seated normally and the rear door opened only as far as your regular parking space allows. If the carrier only enters when the front seat is moved well forward, factor that routine into the purchase. A larger dog may need a different restraint category rather than a smaller carrier.

The checks that matter here

Kennels we would compare for the Tesla Model 3

For a small dog, compare a vehicle-appropriate carrier with a documented securing method. For a larger dog, a correctly fitted tested harness may be more practical than a rigid kennel; do not force a cargo-SUV recommendation into a sedan.

Sleepypod Air

A rectangular Air is a small-dog candidate for the Model 3 rear seat, with loading tested at the door angle available in your regular parking space.

When we would pass: Pass if the dog exceeds its interior-size guidance or the carrier cannot be supported and belted in the intended seat.

Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed

Compare the round bed on the selected cushion when carrying a small dog in the passenger cabin; neither trunk is an occupied alternative.

When we would pass: The round base needs a separate seat trial; do not assume that an Air installation transfers to this carrier.

These are candidates to investigate, not confirmed fits. Match the exact size and installation instructions to your dog and vehicle before ordering.

Before you order

Use the main guide’s dog-sizing and loading-route checklist to test your chosen layout. Review how to check crash-test evidence for the exact product and installation; a successful physical fit does not establish crash protection.

Bring your dog’s measurements, your model year and trim, and photos of the intended installation area to the kennel seller. Ask for the exterior envelope and usable interior measurements of the exact size and door configuration. Confirm the return terms before a trial fit.
